Teva Scarborough

Teva is a Fitness Professional, Pilates instructor and Dance teacher. She grew up hiding in the wings at the theatre and in the dressing rooms of her mother's dance studios. Her early introduction to dance initiated a lifelong love affair with all things movement and she has never stopped moving!

She has taught in gyms and studios all over South Africa, working as a Personal Trainer, Group Exercise Instructor, Dance Teacher, Creative Arts Educator and as a lecturer and Master Trainer for Reebok Instrucotrs Alliance and Virgin Active.

Her love for the rhythmic and earthy movement of Africa led to her collaboration with Virgin Active to create an African Dance based fitness program in 2012, called Fierce. Her love for all things Dance extend to the theoretical aspects and she has also co-authored and contributed to textbooks, and created training videos for Dance Studies for the Western Cape Education Department and for Maskew Miller Longman.

She has worked extensively as a Pilates instructor both in group mat classes and private equipment sessions. Her combined experience and interest in Dance, Pilates and Fitness has resulted in her developing classes that marry many aspects of these disciplines together in a way that flows and is fun.

She believes exercise should be an essential part of everyone's daily life, but that it should also be fun and soulful.

Passions and favourite places

If she is not in the studio dancing to ANY kind of music, you will find her on a run on the beach or in the forest with her Border Collies. Feeling the sand between her toes on the beach and the sea spray on her face makes her feel alive and a cat on her lap and a book in her hands helps her relax. Raising her 2 children (10 years apart and now grown up) has been her biggest adventure!
